Linear Feature Restoration in Caribou Habitat: A summary of current practices and a roadmap for future programs

Timeline

2014

Scope of Work

This initiative facilitated knowledge sharing among COSIA members on current and future linear restoration pilot projects. It identified best practices from pilot results, shared monitoring outcomes, and developed recommendations to guide future restoration efforts. Informed by an in-person workshop with experts, the project includes summaries of nine restoration initiatives and interviews with leaders from academia, government, and industry. A comprehensive "Restoration Toolbox" was created to organize practices by planning, treatments, and monitoring—highlighting those that are effective, ineffective, or still being tested. Additionally, a proposed planning framework was developed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of future linear restoration programs.

Conclusions

This project developed a "Restoration Toolbox", a proposed planning framework for COSIA, future restoration planning recommendations, and current and past linear restoration program summaries.
