Cold Lake and Fort Nelson Wetland Inventory

This project provided Imperial Oil Resources with comprehensive wetland mapping for the Cold Lake and Fort Nelson Duck’s Unlimited Operations areas to support project expansion planning. In addition to baseline wetland mapping, the project generates waterfowl distribution products necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating ecologically sustainable land use practices. Their datasets also include Trumpeter swan observation data, waterfowl habitat potential, and ecological classification groupings (soil moisture, hydrodynamics, nutrients).

Produced a Cold Lake wetland inventory and waterfowl distribution map of 4 million hectares (10.3 million acres). Produced a Fort Nelson wetland inventory and waterfowl distribution map of 10.2 million hectares (26.2 million acres).
