Nutrient & Water Cycling
Nutrient & Water Cycling
Effective cycling of nutrients and water is core to supporting healthy vegetation and the overall functioning of natural ecosystems.
The COSIA Land EPA has supported many research projects designed to better understand nutrient and hydrological cycles in the Alberta Oil Sands Region and how to prevent or mitigate negative impacts from contaminants or landscape changes resulting from mining and exploration. Extensive research and modelling programs have contributed to meaningful improvements in reclamation and functional watershed design.
The Land EPA portfolio includes dozens of essential projects on nutrients and water cycling.
